“Union for Justice”: Settler Attacks in January Resulted in the Injury of More Than (70) Palestinians and the Displacement of Dozens of Families

9/2/2026 – Union for Justice Foundation

The “Union for Justice Foundation” said that settler attacks carried out in the West Bank last month resulted in the injury of approximately (75) Palestinians and the displacement of dozens of families from their places of residence.

The Foundation indicated that settler attacks are on a continuous rise and take many forms, foremost among them the storming of Palestinian villages and towns, opening fire at citizens, and carrying out physical assaults using sticks, stones, and bladed weapons.

It added: “These attacks also included the burning of vehicles and homes, the destruction of agricultural and animal structures, the theft and killing of livestock, the poisoning of agricultural lands, the sabotage of water lines and graves, the storming and desecration of mosques, the destruction of schools and theft of their contents, and the seizure of land and homes by force.”

Storming of Islamic Shrines and Archaeological Sites

Alongside the daily incursions carried out by settlers into Al-Aqsa Mosque in the city of Jerusalem, accompanied by the performance of Talmudic rituals, settlers continue to storm numerous Islamic religious shrines and archaeological sites scattered across different parts of the West Bank, claiming that these areas are sacred according to the Jewish religion—claims described as inaccurate by researchers and specialists.

During the past month, settlers stormed the “Tarousa” area west of the town of Dura southwest of Hebron, the archaeological site of “Qasr al-Mawraq” dating back to the Roman era southwest of Hebron, Solomon’s Pools located between the town of Al-Khader and the village of Artas south of Bethlehem, and Joseph’s Tomb east of the city of Nablus, where they performed Talmudic rituals.

Uprooting and Destruction of Trees

During January, settlers uprooted and destroyed more than one thousand trees of various kinds, including olive, citrus, fig, and almond trees. On the fifth of last month, settlers uprooted approximately 150 olive trees in the Masafer Yatta area south of Hebron. On the fourteenth of the same month, settlers uprooted a number of fruit-bearing olive trees east of Tubas.

On January 26, settlers uprooted 100 olive saplings in the town of Asira al-Qibliya south of Nablus, and 500 olive, fig, almond, and other trees in Khirbet Wadi al-Rakhim in the town of Yatta south of Hebron Governorate. Two days later, they uprooted 200 olive trees in the plain area of the town of Turmus Ayya north of the city of Ramallah. Before the end of the month, settlers carried out another attack on the same town and burned a number of trees.

Establishment of New Settlement Outposts

The “Union for Justice Foundation” continued: “Settlers also established two new settlement outposts last month. On January 13, they set up a settlement outpost between the villages of Rummon and Deir Dibwan east of the city of Ramallah, and on January 21 of the same month they established a new settlement outpost in the Bedouin community of Khan al-Ahmar east of occupied Jerusalem.”

Approximately 770,000 Israeli settlers live in the West Bank in hundreds of settlements and colonial outposts, including 250,000 in East Jerusalem, and they carry out daily attacks against Palestinian citizens with the aim of forcibly displacing them.

Forced Transfer and Compulsory Displacement

According to monitoring and documentation by the “Union for Justice,” settler attacks, ongoing violence, and daily harassment carried out against Palestinians with the support of the Israeli army and government led during January to the displacement of (122) Palestinian families, particularly in Bedouin communities, where these Bedouin families were forced to leave their places of residence.

Previously, the United Nations announced that Israeli settler attacks and harassment in the occupied West Bank caused the displacement of approximately 700 Palestinians during the past month, the highest rate recorded since the outbreak of the war on Gaza more than two years ago.

Official, human rights, and UN reports also indicated that more than 33 Palestinian Bedouin communities have been displaced since October 7, 2023, distributed across 66 sites in the West Bank, leading to the displacement of 2,373 citizens from these communities, which enabled settlers to close off hundreds of thousands of dunums on which these communities were located and establish 114 new colonial outposts.

Regarding the details of the displacement operations, the “Union for Justice Foundation” notes that on 8/1/2026, 26 families belonging to the al-Umrein “al-Kaabneh” families were forced to leave the northern part of the Bedouin Shalal al-Auja community north of the city of Jericho, due to the escalation of repeated settler attacks and the accompanying assaults and direct threats.

On 11/1/2026, 33 families were forced to leave the Bedouin Shalal al-Auja community north of the city of Jericho. On 19/1/2026, 20 Palestinian families from the al-Zayed families were forced to dismantle their homes and structures and leave the Bedouin Shalal al-Auja community north of the city of Jericho. On 24/1/2026, settler attacks forced 15 Palestinian families to leave the Bedouin Shalal al-Auja community north of the city of Jericho.

On 26/1/2026, 4 families were forcibly displaced from Khirbet al-Hadidiya in the northern Jordan Valley due to the escalation of settler violence. On 31/1/2026, 4 families from the Shalal al-Auja community north of the city of Jericho joined those displaced earlier and were forced to leave their places of residence following the escalation of settler attacks, thus completing the displacement of all Palestinian families, numbering approximately 120 families.

Since its establishment, the Shalal al-Auja community has been subjected to a long series of serious violations, including repeated incursions, physical assaults, and direct threats against residents—particularly women and children—alongside the destruction of property, structures, and livestock pens, the theft and poisoning of sheep, restrictions on water sources and grazing lands, and the daily harassment of shepherds, turning residents’ lives into a permanent state of fear and insecurity.

These violations were carried out repeatedly and systematically, often in the absence of any protection for the civilian population, making continued life in the community impossible and forcing families to leave in order to protect their lives.

The “Union for Justice Foundation” affirms that this escalating violence by settlers cannot be recorded as individual or isolated incidents, but rather as the result of organized and calculated efforts, with official approval and blessing from the Israeli government formed by the far right, serving political objectives and implementing a plan to tighten control over the West Bank and annex it in a gradual and accelerated manner.

The Foundation stresses that the forced transfer and displacement of Palestinians within the West Bank constitutes a war crime and may amount to a crime against humanity under international law.
